A panel discussion was held at the Mehmet Okul Congress and Culture Center on November 24, 2025, to commemorate November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In her opening remarks, Professor Kerime Derya Beydağ, head of the nursing department, emphasized that any form of violence against women is unacceptable and that raising awareness can one day change a person's life.
During the panel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şadiye Özcan addressed the types and causes of violence against women in her speech titled "Unsolved Problem: Violence Against Women." Cennet Ertürk, in her speech titled "Combating Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women, Law No. 6284, ŞÖNİM (Voice and Support Centers for Women's Rights and Protection of Women's Rights) and Women's Shelters Services and Regulations," discussed the work of the ŞÖNİM unit within the Ministry of Family and Social Policies to prevent violence against women. In her speech titled "There Is a Feeling Inside Me," Dr. Lecturer Vesile Adıgüzel engaged in an interactive presentation, engaging the audience in her presentation on anger, which plays a crucial role in preventing violence, and the path from anger to violence. Aybüke Eker addressed femicides using current statistics and news, while Enes Fırat Tel shared information on the perspective of police officers on combating violence against women.
